QR check-ins

Count visitors where there's no front desk.

Make a QR check-in code for each site, trailhead, overlook or boat ramp in your dashboard, then print the sign: a big QR code with your logo. Visitors scan it with their phone camera and their visit is recorded. No app, no account.

Once you're in, setup takes minutes. No call, no app to install, no card. Managing 10 or more sites? Talk to us

QR code: scan to try the demo check-in
what visitors do

A check-in takes a few seconds.

Scan the code on the sign above with your own phone, or open the demo check-in. The demo saves nothing.

  1. Scan the signVisitors point their phone camera at the QR code. There is no app to download and no account to make.
  2. The visit is recordedA page opens with your site's name and records the check-in. Opening the same page again within a few minutes does not count twice.
  3. Optional questionsThey can then answer two optional questions: where they're visiting from, and whether they're staying overnight. Skipping is one tap, and a skipped question still counts the visit.
  4. On to your pageIf you like, the code then sends visitors on to a page you choose, such as your trail map or website.
your codes

One code for each place you want to count.

Make as many as you need

Create codes in your dashboard for each site, trailhead, overlook or boat ramp. QR signs and check-ins are unlimited on every plan, and each code keeps its own count.

Turn a sign off and on

Taking a sign down for the winter? Turn its code off. The printed address and its counts are kept, and visitors who scan it see that the sign is no longer active. Turn it back on in spring.

Counted carefully

Link previews and repeat taps are not counted as visits, and every report labels check-ins as check-ins, not as total visitation.

your signs

A big QR code with your logo.

That's the whole sign. Download a print-ready PDF made from your code in four sizes: Letter (8.5 × 11 inches) for indoors, and 8 × 10, 12 × 18 or 18 × 24 inches for posting outside. Print Letter at your desk and take the larger sizes to any print shop.

Weatherproof aluminum signs ordered through Public Lands Log are coming soon. Ask us if you want to be first.

No guest book at the desk? Print blank sign-in sheets with your logo from the same page. More about sign-in sheets.

what you get

Check-ins next to the rest of your numbers.

Check-ins by day and site

See check-ins by day and site, and a running total for each code, next to your guest-book entries and kiosk sign-ins. Each source is kept on its own.

Where visitors came from

Hometowns that visitors add after checking in go on your origin map and into your funder exports.

Overnight stays

Answers to "Staying overnight?" fill the lodging fields in your lodging-tax exports. They are counted as given, never scaled up, and every export says how many visitors answered.

Already have trail counters? Import the CSV files from Eco-Counter or TRAFx counters. Counter totals stay separate from check-ins and guest-book entries, so nothing is counted twice. Have a front desk? A tablet can run a front-desk kiosk where visitors type their hometown and party size.
